Back in 1970, Del Cockrell, the Owner and Founder of American Broadcasting School, had no idea that the school would grow to become one of the most highly respected broadcast training institutions in the nation. Mr. Cockrell had worked in the Broadcasting industry in Oklahoma City for 10 years when he began to recognize the need for qualified entry-level Announcers (DJ's), Newscasters, Sportscasters, Copywriters, Production Directors and Account Executives.

Opening ABS with only 20 people per day and night class, American Broadcasting School has grown to four campuses in Oklahoma and Texas whose physical facilities total over 50 state-of-the-art On the Air practice studios and more than 30 Digital Production editing bays. In nearly four decades, American Broadcasting School has trained and graduated thousands of qualified broadcasters, many of whom have made their livings as independent entrepreneurs in the field of broadcast or broadcast-related self-employment!

Because of the continual high demand and National Accreditation, ABS has continued to expand by going Online nationwide. ABS will offer the same high quality of training that it has become known for in every corner of the United States. It has taken nearly four years to do the required research, search for just the right software (in some cases have them custom-designed) and put together a comprehensive Online curriculum that would produce the same high quality training program that ABS has built its reputation upon. Now, American Broadcasting School is bringing the highest level of broadcast training to those who would otherwise find it difficult to work classes into their busy schedules or to those who are unable to attend classes because they are too far away from areas where training can be found.
